Escape Artist: Melvin's Nemesis 400 Scrambler
// By Sol Invictus
Some builds you know are just gonna be cool. When Melvin, who works in the creative industry, came in to discuss the custom work he wanted done on his Nemesis 400 Scrambler we knew it was going to be a cool looking build.
The brief was simple, he wanted to pare back, trim down and streamline the motorcycle and give it a cleaner look. The first and most significant element to remove was the rear fender, numberplate and tail light assembly. The rear loop was also tidied up and a Shinyo mini tail light was fitted. Discrete LED indicators were installed and the seat was re-shaped and upholstered in matte black vinyl with a fluted stitch pattern.
Slimline side covers replaced the original rounder ones and Melvin chose a satin navy colour for the tank and had SOL logos 3D printed for the emblems. The front fender was trimmed and reshaped so that visually it almost disappears, the OEM instruments were replaced with a 60mm diameter single unit and Melvin supplied the Motogadget grips to install on the MX bars with CNC bar-end mirrors.
Up front Melvin specified the searchlight like LED headlight from Purpose Built Moto. The exhaust system was also given the once over with the OEM two-into-one headers being swapped for the Classic 400 two-into-two with heat wrap. The mufflers were upgraded to reverse cone shorty's and the stainless steel finish was ceramic coated matte black .
To finish off the blacked out look the spokes were covered with spoke wraps and the tyres were swapped for go-anywhere Heidenau K60s.
The best thing about this type of stylish blacked out build is that it'll look cool sitting outside a cafe and will also be perfect for any great escape.
